GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Child neglect, June 15, Boxelder Rd, GPD

Officers responded to the area of Boxelder Road and Oak Circle for the report of a 3-year-old boy, wearing only a diaper, running into traffic around 8:24 a.m., according to Gillette Police Lt. Jason Marcus. The mother, a 30-year-old female, was identified and the boy was returned to her. She had been using the restroom and was not aware that he had left the residence.

Shoplifting, June 15, S. Douglas Hwy, GPD

Staff at Walmart called the police yesterday at 12:45 p.m. after they allegedly caught three juveniles stealing merchandise, Marcus said. Two of them, both 16-year-old females, reportedly took cosmetic products valued at $53.  The other juvenile, a 14-year-old male, took a facial massager valued at $10. All three were issued citations for shoplifting and were released to their parents.

Fraud, June 15, Steer Roping Ave, CCSO

A 54-year-old female called the sheriff’s office yesterday at 4 p.m. to report her Amazon account had been defrauded, according to Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny. Unknown suspects reportedly purchased a $300 Nintendo Switch and a bottle of Bond #9 New FiDi cologne for $208. She caught the charges the same day they occurred and was told by her credit card company that she would not be held liable for the charges, per Matheny.

Animal problem, June 15, Glenn Ct, CCSO

Deputies responded to the area of Glenn Court in Wright for the report of two dogs that had killed a cat and were actively chasing an antelope near the golf course around 5:30 p.m., Matheny said. The dogs were not located. The cat was valued at $500 by the owner, a 44-year-old female.

Theft, June 15, E. 2nd St, GPD

Officers responded to a Big D station on E. 2nd Street around 7 p.m. for reported fuel theft, Marcus said. A 24-year-old female reported that a male, later identified as a 46-year-old male, in a Laramie County Fire Department vehicle stole $159 worth of diesel fuel. Officers contacted the Laramie County Fire Department, where a captain told officers that one of their vehicles had been stolen and they were filing a report. Officers were not able to locate the 46-year-old male, Marcus said, and the investigation is ongoing.

A 21-year-old female was arrested on a Crook County warrant at a Campbell County residence last night around 11:45 p.m. after she called to have deputies check on a male who she believed had harmed himself with a firearm, Matheny said. The male, 38, had been clearing a handgun in a pickup when it discharged, firing a round into the air. He was not injured, and no further action was taken.
